First Friday Fave - Inspirational Reads

Woo hoo, it’s my first official Friday Fave! I’m clearly a lot excited!

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m a big fan of the inspirational quotes and books. So, I’m dedicating my first ‘Friday Fave’ to my favorite uplifting reads. Here are my top four books to get you motivated, and to help you reconnect with what’s important to you.

Happy Friyay!

Grace, Not Perfection - Again, if you follow you me on IG you’ve probably seen/heard me share about this one before. This was the first book that really spoke straight to my heart, and addressed so much of what I was feeling on this motherhood journey. Emily Ley is an amazing author, entrepreneur, and a Mom to three littles. I love that Grace, Not Perfection isn’t just text, but it also gives you space to look at how you prioritize your life and time. This read is faith focused, full of organizational tips, and has a mission to help us give ourselves the same grace as we offer others.

The 5 Second Rule - I’m fairly late to the game on this one, but I’m now a total Mel Robbins #fangirl. I started reading The 5 Second Rule while we were traveling this summer, and it immediately got me fired up. I found myself transferring her rule to my everyday life. From the simplest decisions to finally organize Max's closet, and act on mundane tasks around the house; to getting my butt in gear with my bigger dreams and goals. I love this newfound mindset to get going, rather than wait for the ‘right time.’ If you’re feeling in a slump, or need the push to share your idea with the universe - go get this book now!

Present Over Perfect - I listened to Shauna Niequists quest for slow, joyful connection during a commute to/from San Francisco for a hand modeling job. I had a travel mug full of hot coffee, the car to myself, and 2+ hours to indulge in some personal growth through literature. It was heavenly! If you’ve ever found yourself feeling burned out from the chaos of life, then this book is for you. It’s another faith based read, and Shauna’s honesty and vulnerability will bring you to tears at times. I shared one of my favorite quotes on Instagram a couple months ago, and it comes back to me frequently. Shauna describes stars as, “delicate, powerful, rising, constant; lighting the dark in a small, but glittering way.” I feel so connected to this phrase. If I can be known for any specific qualities, these would be my biggest wish.

A Simplified Life - Another one by Emily Ley. I recently told a friend that Emily is like my spirit animal. This read focuses on getting your life and home organized. I loved going room by room and doing a major purge of unnecessary items. Though, I will admit I got a little overzealous, and I threw out some things I shouldn’t have. BUT, in the moment it was the most invigorating, and powerful feeling! So, totally worth it. If you love the idea of a detox, but don’t want to give up pizza or wine - get this book, and detox your home instead!

These books and authors have been at the top of my favorites list for a while, but I know there are so many other great reads out there. Which books have spoken to your heart lately, and why?
