Friday Faves - DIY Holiday Gift Guide
Let’s Get Crafty!
Do you ever feel like your holiday shopping list is a heck of a lot bigger than your budget is? Or, that you just don’t have the energy to go to another store? Or hit that ‘Buy Now’ button one more time? Then this guide is for you! These DIY gifts are easy to make, affordable, and will allow you to channel your creative genius. You can find a plethora of ideas on Pinterest, but these are my favorite handmade gifts. Happy crafting!
TLH Holiday Gift Guide #3 - DIY Gifts
1) Body Scrub - This is one of my favorite handmade gifts. It’s so easy to make, you can customize the scents, and it offers the recipient a few moments of spa-like luxury in their own home. I tend to use peppermint and wild orange essential oils, but you can use any you have on hand. Don’t have any oils? You can always leave it unscented. Put it in a cute jar with a ribbon, and you’ve got yourself a pretty little package to gift to anyone on your list.
2) Stove Top Potpourri - This is like all those lovely smells of the holidays, in a bag. You can find everything you need at the local grocery store, or even in your kitchen, and it only takes a minute to put them together. Attach a cute label (thank you, Pinterest) and these make the perfect gifts for your neighbors or the kids’ teachers.
3) Christmas Tree Trunk Ornaments - These are such a cute addition to your ornament collection. You can make one each year, have the kids decorate them, and they are of course perfect gifts, too. Be sure to save a few pieces when you trim your tree trunk, pull out your favorite color Sharpie pens, and get crafting. When you’re done, attach a small eye hook so they can hang on a ribbon or ornament hook.
4) Playdough - This one’s for the kids! We love to make playdough in our house, so it had to be a part of this gift guide. There are lots of recipes out there, but this one has been our favorite for quite some time. (You can make it without the Jello, use food coloring, or even put a few drops of essential oils in.) It makes a good amount, so you can get several gifts out of one batch. We like to use canning jars for a lot of our DIY gifts, but you could also wrap it in plastic, or even pop it in a zip lock and have the kids decorate the outside. These are great to pass out to the classmates, or neighborhood friends.
